Why Won't Google Remove My Review?

  • The first pass is automated. Your flag is usually evaluated by an automated system, not a person. If it does not clearly match a policy in the way the system expects, it gets rejected in seconds.
  • There is no real escalation path. Once you get a rejection, the tool offers no obvious way to follow up, add evidence, or get a human to look again.
  • "This review is unfair" is not a policy. Google does not remove reviews for being negative or wrong. It removes reviews that violate a specific content policy. If your report did not cite one, it was never going to succeed.
  • No evidence attached. Claiming a reviewer was never a customer is not the same as showing it.

The core problem: the self-service flag is built for volume, not for arguing a case. Success comes from citing the exact violated policy, backing it with evidence, and knowing how to escalate past the first automated decision.

  • Identify the specific policy. Was the reviewer never a customer? A competitor? Is it spam, harassment, or off-topic? Each maps to a real Google policy category.
  • Document the violation. Evidence that the person was never a customer, or that the content is fabricated, is what changes an outcome.
  • Submit it the right way and escalate. A single rejection is not the end. A valid case can be pursued further through Google's process.

Does a previous rejection hurt my chances?
